Kate Shem is the Director of Strategy and Planning at Freedom School Partners. Joining the staff in June 2010, Kate works with the FSP team to ensure program quality and the implementation of a sustainable funding model as FSP expands to reach the goal of serving 5,000 children by 2016. Kate previously worked at Partners In Out-of-School Time as Director of Programs. She received her Masters of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BA from Duke University. Kate is married to Ray and has a daughter, Maddie. Kate is proud that Freedom Schools allows her to work for her daughter to strengthen the community she will grow up in to stand for social justice and hold the belief that the opportunity to succeed is a right that all children deserve.
