Children's Defense Fund's Freedom Schools® Summer Program
The Children's Defense Fund selected Freedom School Partners to host a CDF Freedom Schools summer program beginning in 2004. Offering fifteen programs in Charlotte, FSP has a bold vision of reaching 5,000 students by 2016. Freedom Schools is a literacy-rich program integrating reading, conflict resolution and social action in an activity-based curriculum that promotes social, cultural, and historical awareness. Relationship to the Children's Defense Fund
Since 2004, FSP has worked in partenrship with the Children's Defense Fund as a sponsoring organization of Freedom Schools. CDF recognizes FSP as a national leader in delivering CDF Freedom Schools programs. FSP's role to provide Freedom Schools in Charlotte includes interfacing with CDF, managing partnerships with local organizations and schools to secure funding and successfully implement program operations, recruit and train college-level Servant Leader Interns, and ensure high-quality delivery of the CDF Freedom Schools model.
